Let’s travel back in time, shall we? We’d like to start our ‘Nostalgic Kick‘-series with this almost forgotten band from Northampton. THE DEPARTURE lasted only four years – from 2004 to 2008 – and only released one full-length but that was a sweet one.
2005’s Dirty Words mixed the sinister magic of groups like JOY DIVISION with the joyful floorfilling energy of all those Mid-00s indie-rock groups back then. I mean, they even managed to support groups like DURAN DURAN and PLACEBO back then. Their label dropped them when the LP wasn’t a big success so they split up while recording a follow-up. Well, those were different times, right?
