It seems like today we gotta do some thinking. Beloved Scottish indie rock outfit WE WERE PROMISED JETPACKS returned with a new video last week and it has quite a bleak and disenchanting vibe. The clip visualizes their song Peaks & Troughs and somehow fits the subtle build-up of it quite well. Not only a good reminder to return to their most recent album Unravelling now and again but also, that these guys are coming over for a little tour through Germany next week. We can’t shake the impression that WE WERE PROMISED JETPACKS are following a certain agenda with their latest videos. First they revealed the – some called it ‘insensitive’ – video for Keep it Composed on September 11th last year. Now they recently returned with a new clip in similar optic. The drone-like perspective of the shot (just like in their previous visualization), the flickering screen and the pointless gluttony of an average family on a picknick – it all somehow reveals a critical, thoughtful background for the rambling tune. Still, the song is definitely one of the outstanding ones from last year’s impressively focussed Unravelling. But judge for yourself right here and take your chance to see these guys live in the next weeks if you can. Their live shows remain to be impressive.
