Why not wrap your mind around the promise of comfort and the lightness of being for a change? On her recent single Pink, taken from her upcoming debut EP Bye Bye Blinders (due Feb 25), the Düsseldorf-based pop artist Florence Besch celebrates the redeeming joys of fresh starts and authentic empowerment, wrapped in a warmly glowing and rosy-coloured retro world. Equipped with the pop NRW Newcomer Award and the Newcomer Award City of Düsseldorf, the rising songwriter showcases dreamy lo-fi soundscapes that are escapist in the best sense possible: to turn your back on the negative edges our world’s burdened with.

“Back to pink
We can be beautiful
Without being afraid
No reason to tell me
What you think”

Like a soft battle cry Pink meanders through moony and smooth sonic layers, as the dreamy voice of Florence Besch sounds like a tender promise. What might make the impression of a revelling in nostalgia though is really an honest and passionate determination of an artist to face your fears and doubts and get real, as change is already happening. “Come and join me on my voyages through life and emotion to fight self anesthesia”Besch declares on another note and that is exactly what music can offer, am I right?
