Following on from recent singles Falling Asleep At The Wheel and ‘Haunted House’, you might be starting to get a vibe that Holly Humberstone’s song-writing features something of a dark side. That continues to be the case on the English stars latest and intensely emotive single, The Walls Are Way Too Thin.
In an acoustic version recorded live exclusively for NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION (which you can find further along this article), Holly demonstrates exactly why she’s generating such a buzz with her personal and raw song-writing. It tells the story of her move to London, when she admits to “losing control of where I was heading and struggling to find my place in the world.” And with nothing but a guitar to accompany her, it’s got a definite ‘lighters-in-the-air’ vibe, which will undoubtedly go down a storm at her live events.
There’s no doubting that The Walls Are Way Too Thin confirms Holly Humberstone’s exceptional ability to convey deeply personal feelings that still resonate with others, all delivered with astonishing maturity. Proof, if anymore was needed, that she’s moved beyond the ‘one-to-watch’ category and firmly into the ‘here-to-stay’ box.
And here’s the promised exclusive acoustic version Holly recorded for us.
