Famous indie-pop producer Devonté Hynes and his alter ego BLOOD ORANGE report back with new material. Chamakay is the first single from his upcoming new longplayer Cupid Deluxe which has no release date yet. The video clip sees Hynes discovering his own roots as he explains: “I decided to visit Georgetown, Guyana for the first time, the town where my mother is from. She, herself has not been back for 30 years, 3 years before I was born. I tracked down family members, including my 92 year old grandfather, who I had never met before. In this video you will see our first ever meeting.”
Heartwarming story and quite a catchy pop song. The clip was directed by Adam Brainbridge aka KINDNESS and Chamakay also features CHAIRLIFT‘s Caroline Polachek on vocals. Check out the new BLOOD ORANGE material right here.
