Boards Of CanadaAfter French robots DAFT PUNK already made us go crazy with their promotional strategy, it looks lime BOARDS OF CANADA are following their footsteps in preparation for what might be the first new release in almost eight years. The Scottish experimental electronic duo takes the whole concept one step further, revealing some sort of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory idea.

Over one week ago, two mysterious vinyl singles popped up on Record Store Day, revealing a lot of silence on them but also twenty seconds of new music. Later – according to Pitchfork – a mysterious banner on the duo’s YouTube channel led to two new sound snippets which you can find here and here. Played together they sound like the snippets from the released vinyls. And it comes even better – these sounds include the number 628315, which fits into the already released sequence —— / 628315 / 717228 / 936557 / —— / 519225. Some nerds even put it in a text editor and got the name Cosecha. Title of a possible new BOARDS OF CANADA record?

Okay, so this could mean everything and nothing. Maybe we’ll get the follow-up to 2005’s The Campfire Headphase, maybe a re-release of old material or they’re just fooling us. We’ll keep you updated, enjoy the snippet right here plus watch a mysterious commercial which the band recently aired on Cartoon Network(!).
