New music by Britpop mastermind DAMON ALBARN. The musician presents his new song Sister Dust which wasn’t part of this year’s solo debut Everyday Robots. The track is a contribution to the soundtrack of the new Luc Besson movie Lucy which comes to cinemas this summer.
In the course of the new song Mr. ALBARN also shared some interesting insights into the delay of the long awaited BLUR comeback album with the NME. In fact, he blames the weather for the unsatisfying result of last year’s Hong Kong sessions as he explains: ‘There was too much commuting between where we were staying and where we were recording and it was a bit too hot. I think that’s why we didn’t get it finished.’
He furthermore states: ‘There are about 15 songs we recorded in Hong Kong. The annoying thing is, if I’d been able to write the lyrics there and then about being there, we’d have finished the record. But sometimes, if you can’t do it all at once, it dissipates really and I don’t know what I’d sing about now with that record. There’s some great tunes on there, but it may just be one of those records that never comes out…’
Guess we have to wait a bit longer for anything new by BLUR. In the meantime enjoy Sister Dust right here.
