What a freakin' year this has been! This sentence might be more true than at any moment in the past years. The Corona pandemic had a massive impact on pretty much all of our lives, the music industry and quite possibly also the rest of society. In the absence of live music events the songs and records that were released remained an anchor and provided much needed comfort in a difficult time. For NBHAP head Norman that weird 21st century take on early 80s soft rock became one of the most important albums in his life over the past decade. Just in time for its tenth anniversary he tries to narrow down his fascination for it and got a bit help from the man who is responsible for it.
As this decade is approaching its end it is time for a little reflection on all the great music we experienced over the course of it. Of course, this is NOT an ultimate and universal Top 100 list. It simply can't be but these are the songs you should definitely give a spin before the decade is over. Dan Bejar and his songwriting alter ego DESTROYER unleash the first song from the upcoming EP Five Spanish Songs. As the title implies it consists of five tracks entirely performed in Spanish with El rito now being the first one to get published. The EP will feature music written by Spanish musician Antonio Luque of the band SR. CHINARRO of which Bejar is a longtime fan. After the quite soft 2011 record Kaputt it looks like DESTROYER are back to rock. The EP arrives on November the 29th via Merge Records, check out the new material right here.
