Beloved Swedish dreampop songwriter Sarah Assbring and her alter ego EL PERRO DEL MAR finally return with new music, following a surprising RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS cover back in December. Breadandbutter is the first piece of new music by Assbring since 2012’s Pale Fire. It’s a pumping piece of spheric synthpop, driven by the key message: ‘We all come from the same same pattern pattern’. The song also comes with a video that was clearly inspired by Asian culture as the singer also confirms in an interview with Vogue:

‘One of my absolute clearest aims was to distance myself from the kind of common Western sound of today. I just feel like I need something that stands out, something that makes me stop and say, ‘What is this? I don’t recognize this.’

According to the interview her upcoming sixth LP Kokoro is also inspired by her love for Asian culture and ‘totally only listening to Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Indian pop music for the last three years.’ The new EL PERRO DEL MAR full-length got no specific release date yet.
