Meg Baird

If you love dreamy and melancholic songwriting in the style of ANGEL OLSEN, MAZZY STAR or BONNIE ‘PRINCE’ BILLY you might want to take three and half minutes off, grab your headphones, close the blinds and lock the world outside. Counterfeiters by MEG BAIRD is one of these songs that make the world stop spinning and instantly grab your attention. The gifted woman behind this beauty has been a vital figure in Philadelphia’s alternative folk scene of the past decade. She’s worked with KURT VILE and SHARON VAN ETTEN and has been part of the group ESPERS.

But after one decade MEG BAIRD was looking for a change which came in the form of a move to San Francisco. Her new solo album Don’t Weigh Down The Light is a reflection of this change. It’s an introspective and thoughtful but also surprisingly sunny and warm selection of little folk gems. It will be released on June 22 via Wichita Records in the UK and Drag City in the US and you’d better keep an eye out for it. Convince yourself from her talent by witnessing Counterfeiters right here.
