The tristesse of a tower block area is always a fascinating setting for visual art. It’s like an old microcosm, filled with all the negative aspects of modern day city life, hopes, dreams and the long and hard way out. It’s quite a fitting scenery that Austrian synthpop duo MYNTH chose for its first music video. Shot in Alt-Erlaa, a district in Vienna that is mainly consisting of these tower blocks, it features all the emotions you expect from that darker part of the city.
MYNTH are the twins Giovanna and Mario who recorded their first EP Polar Night in the cold of Norway. Nightlight is a fragile piece of gloomy electropop in the style of PURITY RING. It’s a song that searches beauty in the twilight and truly captivates the listener, especially in combination with these images. That’s one impressive way to start your career, right? See for yourself right here.
