Yes, this might sound like a strange combination but it actually is true. 80s pop heroes TEARS FOR FEARS are back with new material. Yes, the band that once gave us great musical moments like Shout and Everybody Wants To Rule The World. Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith are currently working on their first full length longplayer in a decade which is set for a release in 2014. And it looks like the duo hasn’t lost its touch on contemporary music.
In the past months TEARS FOR FEARS already released cover versions of songs by HOT CHIP and ARCADE FIRE. And now comes the group’s very own version of My Girl by experimental indie band ANIMAL COLLECTIVE. And the interesting thing about the band’s rework is the ability to actually let it sound quite fresh. They are in the hear and now and it looks like the future output might provide more than the feeling of nostalgia. Good choice for today’s sound of the day on NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION. Listen to the cover right here.
