Context?
British indie-rock darlings THE MACCABEES recently announced their highly anticipated self-produced fourth record Marks To Prove It. And according to the band the record also marks a return to the playfulness of their early days and the recording sessions worked as constant reminder of the reasons why the lads originally started a band. At least, the first single and title-track became a powerful statement of confidence.
Why Should I Watch This?
Besides getting an insight into the band’s own Elephant & Castle studio in London there’s also another narrative taking place on the streets of the British capital. The video follows an unnamed suit-wearing businessman on his way through the daily rat race just to end up in a mysterious confrontation that takes him out of business in a quite literal way. The powerful song itself and the hectic images of London work surprisingly well in combination with the music, we must say.
Anything else?
You are happily invited to see the narrative twist in the new MACCABEES video as an invitation to sometimes leave your iPhone at home, forget about your busy schedule and get out of the rat race while you still can. The band’s new album Marks To Prove It arrives on May 11 via label Fiction.
