The Very Best - Makes A King - Video

Context?

This band truly is special. British producers Etienne Tron and Johan Karlberg team up with singer Esau Mwamwaya from Malawi to form THE VERY BEST. Their latest album Makes A King was released earlier this spring and according to our review it’s ‘an uplifting piece of sunshine pop to accompany you this summer.’ The three-piece delivers a feel-good fusion of contemporary pop elements with African spirit, one that makes you wish more artist would make such a brave mixture.

Why Should I Watch This?

Because this will definitely put a smile upon your face on this Friday. The clip was made in collaboration with the community organization and collective Ethiopia Skate. The organization was found two years ago. Back then the skater scene in the Ethiopian capitol Addis Ababa was far from being big. Led by then 16 year old Abenezer Temesgen the boys and girls only had seven skate boards they had to share between 25 interested people. But ever since they started the guys from Ethiopia Skate has been able to get over 100 kids skateboarding, thanks to multiple donations from America and Austria. And the music video for Makes A King documents the joy these people have while skating through the streets of Africa. Isn’t it lovely how such small things can have such a big impact on someone’s life?

Anything Else?

Hopefully, the joyful clip by THE VERY BEST will help to spread the word about this organization even more. It’s so much more than just skateboarding. Kids from all backgrounds come together on the weekends to share their affinity for skating. They practice ever day, become friends and also learn the English language in the course of their love for the sport. It’s worth to get supported, don’t you agree?
