Beloved experimental singer/songwriter WILL SAMSON will perform live at Berlin on the 16th of June. Creating a prudent blend of fragile falsetto vocals reminding of HOW TO DRESS WELL‘s Tom Krell, with intimate acoustic guitar play, lo-fi electronics and decayed piano ambience, WILL SAMSON initially captured our attention in 2011 with his debut album Hello Friends, Goodbye Friends.
In 2012 the 23 years old musician impressed again with his sophomore, NILS FRAHM mastered LP, Balance, having used vintage equipment such as salvaged organs, analogue tape delays, old microphones and home-made apparatuses in order to produce a further ensemble of vulnerable sound spaces and hauntologic folk songs replete with soft white noise and tape crackles.
As you can explore on Will Samson’s guestmix for NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION his music is inspired by a variety of different musicians and styles, ranging from SIGUR RÓS‘ JÓNSI to CLAUDE DEBUSSY and from DEVENDRA BANHART to the world-renowned Pakistani singer NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN.
Appropriate to his singular music WILL SAMSON‘s live performance will take place at the impressive Urban Spree, a 1700 sqm artistic space in Berlin-Friedrichshain dedicated to urban cultures through exhibitions, DIY workshops, an art store and a large Biergarten. The event is presented by NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION, KARAOKE KALK and BERLIN SESSIONS. So hope to see you there on the 16th of June.
