Ever since Berlin-based two-piece Gurr released their 2016 debut album In My Head they’ve been riding on a wave of success and a constantly increasing followship that seems to carry Laura Lee and Andreya Casablanca from one high to the next. It already brought them the acclaimed IMPALA Award for ‘Best European Album’ two years ago. Following last year’s irresistible seasonal theme tune Hot Summer we are happy to have them back with an addictive new single which exclusively debuts on NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION today.
She Says is a first teaser and title-track of the duo’s new EP which arrives on April 5th via AWAL/ Rough Trade. It’s a bit more laid back then their previous releases but it’s got that really wonderful warm feeling and love for harmony that really carries the song. The new EP was recorded with New York producer Mathew Molner (Sunflower Bean) and Berlin based producer Tobi Kuhn at the UFO studios in Berlin and it appears to really start a new chapter for Gurr as Casablanca explains:
‘After ‘In My Head’ was recorded all in analogue we definitely wanted to have a little bit more room for the production in these songs. We were adding guitars, small synth lines and sounds after laying down the basic tracks.’
Needless to say we are excited and this song really works as a great ‘welcome’ gift to the spring season, wouldn’t you agree?
