Last year we launched our Moody Indie Christmas Playlist because we were fed up with all the shiny and glossy Christmas tracks around there (Mariah Carey, we’re looking at you!). For us Christmas shouldn’t be about tons of often useless decoration, consumerism and excess and maybe something more reduced and pure. And although the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic forced us to change our holiday traditions this could actually be a chance to celebrate a different Christmas this year. Maybe we all use this season to contemplate and catch our breath after a year that really affected us on so many different levels in a very stressful way.

Somehow our festive playlist on Spotify is actually the perfect soundtrack for the 2020 Corona Christmas due to its reflective nature. It offers a different way of celebrating it and to do that we give you three and a half hours of old favourites and brand new releases including favourites like Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, Kevin Morby, Adrianne Lenker, Sufjan Stevens, Bright Eyes, Trentemøller and Chilly Gonzales. While many songs follow a more melancholic pattern, we also got uplifting matrial from Shame, Gurr, Phoenix, U.S. Girls, LCD Soundsytem and Courntey Barnett in there to give it a little ligh-hearted spin. And aside from a few cover versions we also got brand new material like this wonderful song Liam Gallagher just released. Over sixty tracks are waiting for you right here, so let’s give them a spin. We know this year might be a bit tougher than usual but we sincerely hope this cosy selection will keep you company in these forthcoming cold winter nights. Merry Christmas to all of you.
