British synthpop veterans Depeche Mode have been shaping the world of pop and especially the electronic music scene continuously ever since they first plugged in their synthesizers back in late 1980. They inspired multiple generations of musicians and invited many of them to rework their songs over the past four decades. NBHAP head and lifelong Depeche Mode fan Norman dove deep into the remixes of the band and created not one but four tribute mixtapes dedicated to this special art form.
The world has surely changed a lot in the 35 years after "West End Girls" topped the charts but somehow Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe are still here as one of the few remaining constants in the ever-changing in the world of pop. For the majority of his life NBHAP head Norman has been following the path of the British duo, creating a life-long love relationship that started in his early childhood. In the wake of the band's new album "Hotspot" he shares this personal reflection on these past four decades.
