Frequency Festival
Founded in 2001, Frequency Festival is promoted by one of Austria’s main radio stations FM4 and the line-up reflects the music played on the station: the alternative side of mainstream music. Predominately rock and pop artists grace its stages and the festival is known to combine a solid blend of Austrian and German artists and internationally known acts. Up until 2008 Frequency was always held near the city of Salzburg but its location changed to St Pölten. The festival’s green fields, lakes and the nearby Traisen river attracts tens of thousands of visitors, who are able to enjoy music across seven stages and for over twenty hours a day thanks to the Day- and Nightparks. In 2008, Frequency introduced The Weekender UK Stage to enrich the variety of genres; most of the artists on the stage’s rooster are signed onto Weekender Records.
