Who is it?

The buzzing German wave/ post-punk two piece consisting of Julien Bracht and Markus Nikolaus. We already named LEA PORCELAIN one of NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION‘s ‘Sound Of ’17’ contenders which makes them some of the new year’s most promising new artists. And judging from their latest single Bones our choice wasn’t so wrong after all.

Why should you listen to it?

The new single by the dynamic duo with love for the dark things in life follows the patterns of great previous tunes like Out Is In while also adding a floating and almost dreamy character to the sinister soundscape. Bones takes the groove of THE CURE (around 1989 Disintegration era), mixes it with gentle shoegaze elements of THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN while not forgetting about that gloomy BAUHAUS/ JOY DIVISION vibe. Aside from that it also comes with an existantial theme as the band states:

‘This song is a human confession, facing the fact that we can’t shake off who we are, who our family is (‘Bones’) or where we come from, where we go and who we fall in love with. No matter if healthy or destructive, no one is born or falls in love by choice.’

What’s next?

A full-length LEA PORCELAIN record is overdue and we’re pretty sure that it might show up in the course of 2017. In the meantime you can directly check our playlist with 80s indie and new wave classics right after Bones since you are already in the fitting mood, right?

Everyday we’re adding NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION‘s Daily Tune to our ongoing Spotify playlist, packed with all the hidden treasures by those talented newcomers you need to know. Listen and follow right here.
