Beloved neo soul duo RHYE is currently on tour and recently already premiered a new song called Waste. Still, the fans are asking themselves when to expect the official follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2013 debut Woman. Now, singer Mike Milosh gave an update to DIY Mag on the progress of the follow-up. He explains: ‘I’m about seven songs into a new album and it’s very interesting because what I’ve done is played 200 and something shows with this group of musicians that I’ve put together, and I’ve created this sound live that’s different than the Rhye record live, and different than my Milosh music.’
The singer furthermore explains: ‘It’s its own kind of entity but I feel the live performances are a lot more emotional than the record.’ He furthermore teases more uplifting pieces on the new RHYE album as he states: ‘The songs aren’t super happy because I think there have been a lot of tough things that have happened to me in the last two years, and it’s definitely fallen into the record because I can’t really avoid being honest in my songs, so some of these songs are a little sad.’
No words yet on when to expect the new album but we keep you updated. In the meantime don’t forget to read our interview with his musical partner Robin Hannibal from 2013 and enjoy a modern classic from the debut below.
