Only a few white spots left on the musical reunion map these days – and it looks like Britpop legends BLUR are one of the next bands to return with new material. At last night’s gig in Hong Kong bandleader Damon Albarn turned to the crowd and said “So, we have a week in Hong Kong, and we thought it would be a good time to try and record another record.” The reaction of the Asian crowd was more than pleasing and it looks like it isn’t the end for BLUR yet.
After their reformation in 2009 the four-piece played several shows, released the concert album ParkLive last winter and put out a couple of stand-alone tracks. There’ve been several rumours about mysterious recording sessions of BLUR and especially Albarn left us quite unclear about his future since he is a really busy man the past years. But it looks like the band is really tired of just playing the old stuff – a new album would be the first one in ten years and the first one with the original line-up since 13 from 1999. We’ll keep you updated – in the meantime, watch the ‘announcement’ below.
