New York-based house music masterminds HERCULES AND LOVE AFFAIR are officially back. Today the band announced their third studio album The Feast Of The Broken Heart for a release on May 26. It features the band around mastermind Andy Butler with a new line-up and new goals. But judging from the also today released first single Do You Feel The Same? it looks like the project continues its path of smooth 90s-influenced house music.
Butler on the new record: ‘I wanted nasty basslines, stormy, bleary-eyed sounds, fiery, rough, tough and ragged old school house productions that sounded almost techno. I didn’t want polite, I wanted aggressive.’
But still it looked like HERCULES AND LOVE AFFAIR kept a fair amount of soul within their songs. The last we heard from Butler was his DJ-Kicks compilation back in 2012. You can see the comic-like artwork to your left and enjoy the record’s first single below.
