If you care for gentle twists of melancholy rushing over your skin, then you should not miss out on Indigo Sparke‘s tender new single Everything Everything, the Australian songwriter’s next tease to her upcoming debut LP Echo (landing on Feb 19). Initial acoustic guitar pickings pave the way to a tender melodic flow, perfectly orchestrated by a powerful, yet intimate vocal performance.
There is an existential void that lies at the heart of this haunting piece, first made alive by soft whispers of how everything is falling apart (“Only heaven knows what to do with me”), wrapped in sparse acoustic shapes. Followed by a gentle flow into soft piano arrangements, this sonic adventure is capable of creating a sweet sentimental bliss that draws you into a space of soothing and powerful harmonies that crack up with emotional value. Everything Everything reaches for the stars and goes into your skin simultaneously and we can expect that as well for the entire Adrianne Lenker-produced record, as the artist has summed up herself:
“When writing and recording the record, I wondered how it would all come together. I felt like I was standing back in the desert, looking up at the blue night sky, wondering how all the stars would connect. I think sometimes it’s the dark matter or void space between them, that holds it all together. This record is an ode to death and decay. And the restlessness I feel to belong to something greater.”
