It has been quite a hard year for everyone earning their money in the cultural scene in Germany. One of the affected persons is Timo Kumpf, the organizer of beloved German indie festival Maifeld Derby. NBHAP author Miriam Wallbaum, who attended the festival regularly the last years, took the nearby end of the year as a chance to recap the past months together with the organizer and had a little look at the near future with him.
Seven years after the release of his celebrated debut album "The Golden Age", the French artist Yoann Lemoine is finally back with the second record as his alias Woodkid. For this little video conversation, the two members of Howling only meet each other virtually. How do you keep an overview about the countless new releases in the world of music? Well, easier said than done but thank god the staff of NBHAP keeps an overview. In this column one from the team personnally reflects on the past four weeks and the music that matters during this time. This time it's the turn of longtime NBHAP editor Miriam Wallbaum to ramble about our favourite passion in the world.
It seems like the term Neo-Classic is on everyones lips today. Altough many people have heard of this special genre, most of them only regard it as background music without bothering about what's really hidden behind. To show the world that this beautiful music is much more than only a background soundtrack, NBHAP editor Miriam Wallbaum decided to talk to two Neo-Classic pioneers about the scene: Germany's Martin Kohlstedt and Iceland's Ólafur Arnalds.
Ten years of music, ten personal stories. The writers of NBHAP are given the opportunity to resume about the records that excited them the most during the past decade. This is a subjective reflection rather than an ultimate conclusion. This time long time editor Miriam Wallbaum presents you her reflections on the past years.
Bon Iver, aka musician Justin Vernon has already dappled in melancholic folk, experimental electronica, and artsy pop arrangements. Now, with his latest release 'i,i' he fuses pieces from the previous works to one impressive work of art. Time for NBHAP editor Miriam Wallbaum to reflect on the talented musician's legacy.
