Aphex Twin 2014Well, that was quick. Earlier today NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION reported about the sightings of a mysterious airbus by Warp Records that hinted on new material by Richard D. James aka APHEX TWIN. Now, a couple of hours later the artist has officially but cryptically announced the release of SYRO, his first longplayer in 13 years.

Earlier this morning Mr. James tweeted a URL that only worked with the Tor browser, revealing the image above as well as some sort of tracklist. The facts are already confirmed to be official, according to Pitchfork. There is also a website which you can view in your regular browser right here: http://syro2eznzea2xbpi.com. It includes the same hints, minus tracklist and album-title of the new APHEX TWIN record.

SYRO will be James’ first full-length album under his famous alias since 2001’s Drukqs. Be prepared for more spectacular announcements in that style in the next days and weeks. At least, we’re trying to.
