Although NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION took April the 1st this year to joke about the potential end of COLDPLAY it looks like the group is really thinking about changing a few things, following their current world tour for last year’s A Head Full Of Dreams album. In a new and quite entertaining interview with his buddy Zane Lowe for Beats 1, frontman Chris Martin said he can’t think of another album, at least not in a conventional way since he’s very happy with the way the band’s first seven ones turned out. He says:
‘I’d be surprised if there was another conventional Coldplay album. I just feel like we’re right where we’re supposed to be right now. I meant what I said to you a couple of years ago I feel like this is a closing chapter of something. I stand by that I’m afraid.’
Martin furthermore states: ‘We’re comfortable with being who we are at the moment’ but also confirms that COLDPLAY aren’t done yet but might take a big break from 2017 to figure out where to go next.
‘I don’t think we’d split up as a band so hopefully we’ll try to work out something to do at some point. But also part of me right now just feels like yeah seven albums, that’s great and they form a kind of circle and they all make sense to me now and I feel really proud of them.’
They are also about to release a video for the album’s closer Up&Up soon which is quite spectacular according to Mr. Martin. Revisit the interview with Zane Lowe right here.
