Charismatic songwriter Josh Tillman and his alter ego FATHER JOHN MISTY are doing one hell of a promo campaign for their forthcoming album I Love You, Honeybear at the moment, that much is for sure. Two days ago he founded his very own streaming service called SAP which now offers his new album in form of a crappy, instrumental lo-fi stream. And yesterday he does what every good capitalist would do. The former FLEET FOXES member visited the New York headquarters of his SAP’s main competitor Spotify to perform his songs with the help of a karaoke machine and some spontaneously changed lyrics.
We don’t know how the negotiations between Spotify and SAP went but we can surely tell that FATHER JOHN MISTY did his marketing job pretty well. I Love You, Honeybear will be released on February the 10th, you enjoy two videos from the infamous performance below.
