Producer, violinist and practicing yogi HANNAH THIEM will release her debut solo EP BRYM (‘Breem’) on June 3rd. Now the second single off BRYM, Phavet, premieres exclusively on NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION. Phavet is inspired by a Finnish folk song Kuulin äänen. HANNAH THIEM tells:

It weaves classical and folk-influenced violin medleys with hip-hop-leaning gritty dirty dance floor vibes. I had just come off an inspiring summer/fall tour in 2013. Although Dave Sharma and I had started mixing the EP, I felt I needed one more song–something strong, captivating, powerful. Mission accomplished in 2 short weeks–boom. And I can’t stop dancing to it! Loving the contrast of cathedral-esque violins akin to a Finnish women’s a cappella chorus, with deep gritty electronic vibes.

With Phavet HANNAH THIEM perfectly combines electronic sounds and Scandinavian melodies. Modern electronic sounds and classic violin sounds. Folk influenced electronic music – or electronic influenced folk music? Probably both. Phavet is majestic and its layers are deep. Every listen will unearth new secrets. So you should listen to Phavet over and over again.
