Scottish post-rock legends MOGWAI will release a new album on April the 1st, going by the name Atomic. The record will feature reworked versions of a soundtrack the band recorded for last year’s BCC documentary Storyville – Atomic: Living in Dread and Promise. The band’s Stuart Braithwaite discusses the idea in a statement released by the band:
‘The Atomic soundtrack is one of the most intense and fulfilling projects we’ve taken on as a band. Ever since we went to Hiroshima to play and visited the peace park this has been a subject very close to us. The end results, both the film score and the record are pieces I’m extremely proud of.’
The new record follows Rave Tapes from 2014. Don’t forget to read our interview with the band from back then as well as our recent feature on their finest lyrical moments in twenty years. A first track off the new MOGWAI record, called U-235, is up for stream right here.
