American experimental indie institution OF MONTREAL has completed the work on its new album and plan the release for fall 2013. The follow-up to 2012’s Paralytic Stalks is already the 12th album by the band around mastermind Kevin Barnes. According to an enthusiastic statement by the frontman the album was recorded his his home studio on an old 24 track tape machine.
He furthermore states. “It is pretty different from ‘Paralytic Stalks’. Definitely more G Parsons than K Penderecki this time around. I wrote most of the songs while on a self imposed isolation experiment in San Francisco earlier this year, and we recorded it, over a two week period, about a month after i got back to Athens. I was influenced by the poetry of Sylvia Plath (hence the reference in the title), plus artists like the Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Flying Burrito Brothers.” So, a lot to expect from OF MONTREAL in later 2013. We’ll keep you updated – in the meantime enjoy a classic.
