Take Me Out

Scottish indie rock quartet FRANZ FERDINAND is the latest act to contribute their definition of a nightly soundtrack for the legendary Late Night Tales series. They follow enjoyable recent contributions by RÖYKSOPP or the tropical journey of FRIENDLY FIRES. And like every band they leave their very own mark on the series.

Auf Achse

A night out with Alex Kapranos and his boys definitely sounds different than one with METRONOMYFRANZ FERDINAND start the sampler with solid songwriting material, including their gentle cover of Leaving My Old Life Behind by JONATHAN HALPER. Later on, CAN and the inevitable SERGE GAINSBOURG take us through psychedelic territory straight into the shimmering nightlife. The British indie rockers definitely chose a few lovely tunes right here.

Lucid Dreams

Later on, right after McCARTNEY and his WINGS it also gets electronic on the mixtape of FRANZ FERDINAND. BOARDS OF CANADA deliver shimmering ambient material and the almighty JUSTUS KÖHNCKE even delivers a cover of NEIL YOUNG’s old man. And at the end Mr. Kapranos himself reads us a good-night story. Well, these gentlemen proved to be perfect host for a late night out.

FRANZ FERDINAND’s very own ‘Late Night Tales’ compilation honours the legendary sampler series by delivering a diversified and joyful mixtape for a chilled night out.
