This week saw the second most important Facebook post of spanish garage-rock band HINDS from Madrid. More than half a year ago, the most blogged about Spanish band released a post stating why they had to change their name from DEERS to HINDS. Their message this week came with a similar shocking album revelation: ‚It’s funny cause we thought this album would be all party and cheerfulness. But surprise: It’s not.’ The album with the inviting title Leave Me Alone will be released on Lucky Number on 8th January.
But it wouldn’t be in the name of the euphoric girl rock quartet to make an album announcement only. They also released the first of the 12 songs on Leave Me Alone. The track Garden is more melancholic and laid-back than their previous releases. Even the girls themselves admit that their new sound is ‚more sober or even sad’ than they expected it to be. Garden feels like the slow comedown from an adventurous summer. It might me over for us, but there’s always summer for HINDS. On the end of the month, they’ll head out for an Indian summer in America with the likes of GLASS ANIMALS, THE BLACK LIPS and ARIEL PINK.
The last sentence of their Facebook post – ‚Let’s make this winter shorter’ – promises that the band will release more tracks until the release of their first full length album in January. Or the first tour documentary featuring a NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION editor (you’ve heard right). Most definitely, watch this space. You’ll read and hear more about the four slacker girls from Madrid on our grounds soon.
