Rhye premiere new song ‘Waste’ during live show
Mysterious neo soul duo RHYE delivered one of NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION‘s favourite albums in 2013 with their stunning debut Woman. Since then singer Mike MILOSH released a solo record and him and his musical partner Robin Hannibal played various live shows all over the world. RHYE are currently back on the road and during their show in Califonia last night they also premiered a brand new track called Waste. No official word yet if this marks the first step of the journey towards a potential second album but it definitely gets us exciting. Check out our interview with Hannibal from two years ago and watch an audience recording of the new song below.
Beirut share ‘No No No’ music video
Zach Condon and his alter ego BEIRUT have unveiled a music video for No, No, No, the title-track off his forthcoming new studio album. The follow-up to 2011’s The Rip Tide will be released via 4AD on September 11. The music video comes with a surprisingly ‘feel good’ vibe and features Condon and his band using such interesting things like baguettes and skunks(!) as instruments. Let them put a smile upon your face right here.
Savages work on new album with Trentemøller
Acclaimed female post-punk outfit SAVAGES is currently working on the anticipated follow-up to their 2013 debut Silence Yourself. We already knew that and the band confirmed it as well but now comes more information. The band confirmed that none other than Danish producer mastermind TRENTEMØLLER is working with them on the record. They are currently mixing the new album with him in Copenhagen. We are really interested in the twist that might give the new SAVAGES although we’re sure it’s a pretty dark one. NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION will keep you updated on this.
Mercury Rev announce first album in seven years, ‘The Light In You’
Legendary American indie rock group MERCURY REV reports back with The Light In You, their first full-length studio album since 2008. It will be released via Bella Union on the 18th of September, featuring eleven new songs by the band around frontman Jonathan Donahue. Speaking of the long break between releases the mastermind states in a press release: ‘It was one of those otherworldly life sequences, when everything you think is solid turns molten. But also, when something is worth saying, it can take a long time to say it, rather than just blurt it out.’ You can already listen to the album opener The Queen Of Swans right here.
The Soft Moon unveil video for ‘Wrong’
Dark wave expert Luis Vasquez and his alter ego THE SOFT MOON release the music video for Wrong. It’s taken off this year’s album Deeper and the clip is another surrealistic and slightly psychedelic visualization for his dark vision. Earlier this year NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION also talked with Vasquez about the idea THE SOFT MOON. Watch the new clip right here.
Chet Faker shares previously unreleased track ‘Bend’
Australian shootingstar CHET FAKER teases his forthcoming festival appearances by releasing a brand new track. Bend is a song recorded during the same time like his successful debut Built On Glass. The artist on the track’s history: ‘Bend’ was on Built on Glass until the last minute. I recorded it in 2013 and kinda wanted to put it out since. It’s always felt like a part of Built on Glass and since [the upcoming Australian] tour is the sort of live ‘director’s cut’ of the album it made sense to release this before it lost context.’ Listen to it right here.
