A few weeks ago we already recommended you the funky and quite irresistible sound of Long Beach-based outfit Wargirl in the form of their catchy single Poison. In the meantime the playful six-piece released their self-titled debut album via Clouds Hill and it really continues their love for sunny grooves that are inspired by everything from post-punk to dub, it appears. Mess Around is another one of those uplifting floorfillers that define this album and today we’re happy to give you its exclusive video premiere.

The simple yet stylish performance video underlines the ‘retro’ vibe of the track and there’s a reason why it looks as analogue as it does as the band describes:

‘The song Mess Around was written observing how much politicians resemble bad boyfriends with all the lying and begging. We wrote the song to make fun of that. As a nod to the political humor of the song we used some images and ideas from Hans Richter’s 1920’s films in the video. He believed the artists roll was to be political and to oppose war. We tend to be bored with politics, because things seem to never change, but we appreciate his anti-war sentiment.’

Of course we can agree right here so it’s an absolute pleasure to recommend you this crazy collective once again right here. Wargirl are also about to head on a small tour in early 2019 and trust us, this is a concert experience you definitely not want to miss. The dates can be found below the clip
