Norway’s Misty Coast have been one of our favourites for a while now, and they released their debut record Misty Coast last year, an album loaded with excellent space rock. Now one of the record’s highlights, the single Asteroid, has gotten a video, and we’re here today to give you the first look.
Asteroid showcases the best of Misty Coast‘s debut album, a lush piece of colourful psychedelic rock that rolls its melodies around in lo-fi, space-y dreamworld. For the video, the band make a sun-kissed clip from a trip to the coast and adventures with kites and mirrors. Director Carlos Vasquez of Blank Blank Film says:
It has been raining as usual, so this ironically sunny day in the middle of October makes it better. It’s just a nice day for the world to come to an end. But there’s still a few things to do before it arrives. Flying a kite is something I never did, and it feels good to be a child one more time, just before it arrives and this sunny day comes to an end.
The band’s Linn Frøkedal says:
The song Asteroid plays with the idea that there is something more than what we see and know, and that the surveillance society of our time is just as scary as being stuck in a reality show and not knowing about it
Misty Coast is out now on Brilliance, and the band tour Germany (and one date in France, The Netherlands and the UK) this spring. They also play Trondheim Calling this weekend. Further tour dates can be found below.
