For over one decade Australian independent label Future Classic has been the musical home of plenty of talented artists. And they are all combined by their love for electronic pop music. Still, there is no clear definition on how these pop songs should sound like. Some are more focussed on the club, others add a tropical and even psychedelic flavour to the recipe. Jarrah McCleary and Tim Commandeur aka PANAMA gave their sound a certain retro-esque 80s design. They’ve just released a tropical new single called Jungle and since the summer is in its full swing NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION thought it might be a good time to ask these two gentlemen for their opinion on the Future Classic artist roster. From FLIGHT FACILITIES, to JAGWAR MA an CHET FAKER. These are PANAMA‘s favourite tunes of their label family.
1. Classixx – ‘Borderline’
I’ve had this track on repeat since Panama’s tour of the states last year. Great track.
2. Flight Facilities – ‘Hold Me Down’
Love a bit of new jack swing.
3. Seekae – ‘Another’
Extremely emotional song, beautifully held back with its delivery.
4. Touch Sensitive – ‘Show Me’
Enjoyed seeing this one live at SXSW last year, that man knows how to play a bass.
5. Jagwar Ma – ‘The Throw’
Great throwback to the Madchester days.
6. Chet Faker – ‘Gold’
Aptly named.
7. Chrome Sparks – ‘Marijuana’
Diggin’ that vocal sample, wait… it is a vocal sample right?
