KOSO are an all-girl Oslo based music collective and club night, formed with the intention of demolishing the cultural prejudice that dissuades young women from becoming producers and DJs. They recently added a record label to their list of activities, and the stuff they’ve put out so far has all shared the distinctive trait of being really, fucking, good. Of course. it’s kind of against the principles of a collective to have a ‘star’, but PIECES OF JUNO (a.k.a. Kine Sandbæk Jensen) has certainly taken centre stage on KOSO’s early releases. The label’s first single was her track Same To Me, she was on production duties for Sara Angelica’s Run and now is back with KOS003: Her new single, Silver and Gold.

Jensen’s vocal switches between sweet and sinister, lines like ‘You hear my champagne laughter, this sound is what they’re after’ play seductive while also dripping threat and menace. She sings them over a slinky, minimalist beat, augmented by slick splashes of piano. It’s an immaculately produced piece of noir-pop, sometimes sweet and melodic while also having something unnervingly dark deep in its DNA. PIECES OF JUNO‘s début album is apparently on the way, and we can’t wait.
