A lot of bands don’t look like they have a certain concept or like they are seeing the bigger picture. Maybe Manchester-based newcomers THE 1975 are also one of these groups but it clearly doesn’t look like. During the past months the four-piece continuously worked their way up from the basements of local clubs to, let’s say, the Emirates Stadium in London where they recently supported big players MUSE.
With a strong visual image, four EP’s within the past twelve months and some catchy hit singles like Chocolate, Sex or The City, the next step is logically their self-titled debut album which will be released in September. There is a certain appeal of restlessness within THE 1975. They don’t want to wait, they want it now. And they don’t like to focus on just one genre of music. They are representatives of a young generation who’s not interested in limiting itself by just one obvious classification. You can’t call them ‘another indie band’ because they just not are. “The fact that we portray that in our music is a reflection of who we are as people and how we grew up,” told frontman Matt Healy NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION in an interview last December. “It’s not ’cause we don’t know what’s going on.” No, they definitely know what’s going on.
And if you want to know what’s going on in the music player of the band’s tour bus at the moment, here comes your chance. We’re very happy to have THE 1975 on board for another NBHAP Guestmix. Featuring almost one our of current favourites from the lads. And of course, it’s as divsersified as expected from the group, featuring a lovely mixture of electronica, experimental pop and even hip hop. Listen to it right here.
