The internet is a playground for discoverers and creators of music alike and so it gladly happens that the tender ambient-infused soundscapes of young producer Cass. have already led him out of Osnabrück to global cities like Amsterdam, London, or New York. Ever since the release of his first record Loops & Farewell Sketches in 2013, Niklas Rehme-Schlüter has been constantly working on his sound, lately letting his music skilfully balance between club and pop more than ever. His new track Zuukey serves as a testament to such development. Mellow acoustic drums follow a detailed landscape of moody synthesizers. The rich and atmospheric production evokes the image of an early-morning walk home after a night out at a club: Ghostlike voices and fragmentary pieces of vocals are dancing around in the head, silence sets in slowly followed by euphoric flashbacks. Rarely does ‘post shakey time sadness’ sound so accurate. Still, being a melancholic beauty, there clearly is something bright about Zuukey: Here’s hope that a new day, a new night lie ahead of us.
