From Melbourne’s underground scene the singer Allysha Joy emerges once again. Knows as the vocals of the local ensemble 30/70, the artist releases Let It! as part of her solo efforts. Between loose jazz, electronica, and soul the instrumentation walks on dynamic tight ropes merging a up-tempo drum set with lengthy saxophone notes. Allysha Joy recites her poetic lines. “I am only the weight of my words”, is the verse that opens the track. But the weight of Allysha Joy’s unpolished vocals reaches far underneath the skin and combines personal poetry with skilled lyricism. Let It! precedes the forthcoming record Torn: Tonic out later this year.
