Straight out of Kildare comes Ireland’s latest bright musical talent, April, who’s been causing a stir on Soundcloud and from live shows for a little while. And on her official debut single, The Impossible Task Of Feeling Complete, she delivers on that hype. Slow-burning and graceful, Impossible sees April’s voice flutter over a stripped-back musical bed of piano and shifted chorals, taking flight into the glorious, time-stopping chorus. The way she brings the song’s subject matter, the anomie in its bones, to life showcases her ability to add the details and weight to the pictures she paints with remarkable skill for a new artist. April says: “The Impossible Task Of Feeling Complete is a song about not feeling like yourself, it’s a universally understood feeling I think everyone experiences at some point in their lives. It’s about how we can fall so easily and compare ourselves to things we see on television screens and things we hear & read and trick our minds into believing are true & normal to feel. Although lyrically there isn’t much positivity, the song was made to give a feeling of hope and to realise everyone feels this way sometimes”.
