If you ever needed an artist to capture the artsy, leftfield Berlin music scene through one release, Evvol might have just cracked it with their new single. As someone not from the city, Help Myself is exactly the kind of intricate, half-indie-half-electronica and inevitably, epic music I imagine coming from the capital’s converted warehouses rented as luxury accommodation on a regular basis. Fast becoming a rising name in their genre, Evvol first came to prominence with their debut album Eternalism in 2015. Since then they’ve been regularly featured by I.D, Dazed and Confused and The Guardian. In their own words, Help Myself is “A raw and honest song that came out quickly and unexpectedly in our bedroom” and you can hear the DIY production style throughout their work. It’s clear the duo have huge potential to become darlings of the music press. The songwriting is fairly basic but the production makes the track sound cinematic and foreboding. The pair harmonize throughout the entire track giving the vocals a hymn-like quality and the visual is simple but effective. Their new album The Power arives on May 8.
