Faroese artist Greta Svabo Bech has a background providing vocals in the electronic and classical music worlds, which has lead to her having an impressive total of Spotify streams (somewhere in the hundreds of millions at this point). For 2019, her focus is on her new EP Bones, from which she released the swaggering pop song All My Bones a few months ago. Now she’s back with another single, Before You Go, and it’s a more stripped-back and sombre number. An electronically-augmented piano ballad, the song sets its focus on Svabo Bech‘s vocal, and lets the spotlight fall on its subtle power and grip. It stays like that for much of the song, before swelling up in the middle eight and building up into an enormous, crashing final chorus. Greta Svabo Bech says: ‘The music started with this visual and has evolved into something that is a perfect juxtaposition between the darkness and the beauty of the Faroe islands. Raw emotion inside electronic landscapes’. The Bones EP is out later this year.
