With her stunning debut EP Because I Wanted You To Know just a few months back, Matilda Mann has returned with the fresh single Doomsday, just to make everyone feel a little more calm, while the world seems yet shaken by the torrents of the new normal. “Written in December in lockdown”, soothing acoustic guitar chords, carried by a voice so tender and fragile, the song celebrates the hopes and aspirations of a “seize the day” attitude, before things really go down the drain: “Before the world is doomed / I hope I get to live a life next to you / Before we’re all to blame / I hope I get to feel a little less insane”, Mann sings and I think she really speaks our hearts with phrases like that. During the time of lockdown, she states “we really had to cling onto the small things in life, and sometimes it just felt like it was never going to get better. So ‘Doomsday’ was written to help people feel, that during the worst times, things are going to get better. We have each other and the small things that make life good.” Well, mission accomplished, hasn’t she?
