Rokky is a Berlin-based, Icelandic artist who has spent much of the last couple of years busking around the city. But her debut single My Lips sounds nothing like the work of someone who specialises in acoustic guitar sessions in the German capital. Instead, it’s lean, sharp piece of minimalistic electronica. Rokky strips back the vocals to a skeleton, a couple of lines that ride along on the hard aggressive beat that dominates the track. It’s a cold, dark and gripping song that exists for the shadowy, murky, neon-lit corners of clubs. It’s out now, and the artist has an EP in the works for next year.
