Usually I’m trying to avoid quoting stuff from official press releases but the one for dark wave chanteuse Sally Dige offered the following one which I find too hilarious and fitting to not post it here: ‘Think Gina X flavored post punk-disco rubbing against Twitch-era Ministry‘s lost Sade collab or Enya on LSD after a break up.’ Well, and that might sum up the sound of her single This Life pretty well. The retro-infected sinister synthpop tune is taken from Dige‘s 2017 LP Holding On which is the creative result of a personal crisis in 2015 that forced her (and I quote again) to ‘spent most of her time in hospitals and isolated in her room’. So, this is heavy but also quite catchy material, right? Lovers of Austra should definitely spend some time on Sally Dige‘s sound.
