Sometimes it just takes a bit time and absence to worship a certain kind of music again. The sound of Colchester-based Animal Noise somehow reminds us of those straightforward songwriting melodies of 1990s alternative college rock, the ones that gave us highly emotional content right next to catchy melodies. And who knows, maybe in an age of preset-dominated generic pop there’s space again for that sort of sound. Fly, the latest single by the three-piece carries that old-fashioned feeling surprisingly well although it is obviously placed in the here and now. The band is planning to release an album in the spring of 2018, just in case you like what you are hearing.
