While you were all busy worshipping the new Vampire Weekend record last Friday you might have missed this wonderful little indie-pop gem by NYC-based five-piece Barrie. Well, I did but thankfully I still arrived in time to worship the music of the group that’s lead by frontwoman Barrie Lindsay. Their debut LP Happy To Be Here sounds exactly like its title implies – like a warm ray of sunshine, delivered via laid back, delicate and minimalistic indie-pop. It’s that sort of sound that lets you forget how fucked up the world right now is, at least for a brief moment. Geology is a perfect example for that vibe. Four and a half minutes of pop sweetness await you and if you are hyped by now, please let Barrie soundtrack your summer.
