The Leeds-based band I LIKE TRAINS are back with the first single since their last 2016 release A Divorce Before Marriage. The Truth pokes fun at populist politics. Lead singer David Martin sings in almost mechanic tones, ‘The truth is not what we signed up for’, over a relentless and punchy techno beat. The dark, yet danceable tune is accompanied by a video made from archival snippets showing politicians like Trump and Johnson in a fake-karaoke seemingly singing along to the track. The Truth is the first single off the forthcoming LP KOMPROMAT due in August. Even through the band did not set out to write a record about current affairs, the LP ‘inadvertently became about populist politics across the world’.
